PRITCHARDIA
LPG Area:
Madagascar Drive, Tongan Drive, Metroxylon Avenue, Pacific Drive
Distribution:
Approximately 25 species from Fiji, Tonga, Danger Island & Hawai'i. All but 4 species are Hawaiian endemics; many are extremely rare & endangered or not seen in the wild for several years .
Comments:
Of over two dozen known Pritchardia species only about four are from islands in the South Pacific. All the other are native & endemic to an island in Hawai'i. It's pretty final that no other palm species is native to Hawai'i.
